This talk will provide a panoramic view of the increasingly important role that abstract mathematics — geometry and topology in particular — is playing in our current understanding of quantum matter. I will focus primarily on mathematical aspects, but will also discuss some concrete applications in metrology and in the proposed development of reliable architectures for quantum computing.
This lecture will be delivered in person in LSK 306 and also streamed via Zoom. If you do not receive IAM seminar announcements by email, please RSVP here to receive the Zoom link.
