Third Annual IAM Retreat 2007

Annual Retreat
April 13, 2007 4:00 pm

Speaker:  Sixteen Speakers

Location:  Minnekhada Lodge, Minnekhada Regional Park

Intended Audience:  Public

The Third IAM Seminar Retreat 2007 took place – in brave defiance of any superstitions – from 9 am to 5:30 pm on Friday, April 13th, and was organised by Prof. Dan Coombs (IAM Faculty, Dept. of Mathematics), Prof. Michael Ward (IAM Director, Dept. of Mathematics) and Dr. Marek Labecki (IAM Research/IT Manager). As in the past two years, we used the hospitable facilities of the beautiful Minnekhada Lodge, located in the Minnekhada Regional Park. We had almost 40 participants and a total of 16 talks covering a variety of topics in Applied Mathematics (see the Retreat Schedule). All sessions went very smoothly, and most speakers kept their talks perfectly within the alloted time limit, making Dan Coombs’ famous time-enforcing gun largely unemployed throughout the day. During the lunch break, despite a somewhat uncooperative weather, most of us took a walk around Minnekhada Park, including a visit to its highest point, the High Knoll.
