Julia Workshop Series – Day 2 of 3

Other IAM Events
October 22, 2022 10:00 am LSK 306
The Julia workshop is full, so we are no longer taking new registrations for this session. However, we plan to offer the workshop again next semester, or possibly later this semester, depending on demand. To indicate your interest in a future session, please fill out the registration survey here, and we will contact you when the new session has been scheduled. Thank you!

The IAM is sponsoring a three-part workshop on the Julia programming language that will be held over three Saturdays, from 10am to 1pm. The following topics will be covered:

October 15: Foundations
  • installation
  • syntax
  • type system
October 22: Performance
  • faster code
  • types revisited
October 29: Structure
  • large programs
  • modules
  • packages

Registration is now closed.

The workshops will be led by IAM alum Mia Kramer (MSc ’22, UBC CS), currently a scientific software developer at 1QBit.

Although no previous experience with Julia is required, it’s expected that attendees will have experience with another programming, such as Python or Matlab. Because the workshop sessions are tightly integrated, we ask that all workshop participants commit to attending all three sessions. Small assignments will be given after each session, and there will be an opportunity to form interests groups to continue learning and collaborating on more specialized topics.
