Recently, bilevel optimization problems have received growing attention within the optimization community, because of their numerous important applications in machine learning and data science. We will discuss some of the recent developments in bilevel optimization problems in terms of algorithms and their theoretical  convergence/complexity analysis, as well as some of the attendant difficulties and open challenges.

Refreshments will be served before the talk, starting at 2:45.

We gratefully acknowledge generous financial support from the Pacific Institute of Mathematical Sciences (PIMS).
