• The IAM provides its users with a linux network account and, if desired, with an email account, an individual web page, and a computational cluster account.
  • The IAM linux network currently consists of 13 workstations, physically present on individual user desks and in the common areas of rooms 309 and 311. These machines mostly have various open-source software installed on them, but also provide access to licensed computational packages such as Matlab, Comsol and Maple.
  • Multiple computational jobs or parallelised code can be run on our 18-CPU Beowulf cluster. Both the cluster and the linux workstations can be accessed remotely.
  • The common area in room 309 also provides access to a few IAM Windows workstations with shared user directories. These machines have software such as the MS Office suite, MiKTeX and WinEdt, Adobe Acrobat, Maple, plus a variety of utility programs installed on them.
  • Additional hardware the IAM users have access to includes three network printers, a fax machine, a scanner, a multifunction copier/scanner/printer, as well as a Windows laptop and computer projectors for presentation purposes.
