Christmas break
We wish all members of the IAM a merry christmas and a happy new year 2012! We look back to a very exciting fall and forward to all the new projects and activities the new term will have in store for us. A term meeting will be called in January to meet, chat and discuss, but the exact time is still TBA after the well-deserved christmas break.

A big thanks to everyone who helped us get a little present for the research/IT manager Marek and the director Neil! If you wonder what was inside this nice gift wrap, maybe just ask them directly. Or simply pay attention to what they enjoy their tea with at the next IAM Friday Morning Tea ;) Happy Holidays!

IAM rearrangement completed
Now that the new arrangement has been completed and IAM-309 students have been settled in, it is safe to say that the rearrangement of 309 has been a success. The number of desks has been increased from 9 to 14 without sacrificing privacy. The general consensus is that the space is now more efficient. Below are figures of the old and new layouts (left and right resp.)
Thanks to all IAM students who helped with the rearrangement of 309, and a special thanks to Kai Routhauge for putting together the incredibly detailed floor plan designer in Powerpoint.

IAM rearrangement
For some time, IAM students have been musing about a new floor plan for the offices in room 309 and 311. The time has come to put the plan into action. The floor plan will be discussed today at 11am and a final decision made about the best way to arrange the room. The offices in 309 and 311 will be rearranged over the weekend of the October 28-29 (excluding 311B,D,E). All students who have a cubicle in 309 or 311 should clear their desk and/or pack up their belongings to be stored in 306 for the duration. Also, many of the computers will have to be moved so please log out of your computer on friday afternoon before leaving. If this is a problem for you for any reason, please contact stucom right away.

Fridge Cleaning completed
The fridge has been cleaned and is now ready for use. Thanks to Mike Lindstrom for organizing the cleaning and to all those who assisted. We used vinegar as a disinfectant so there may be a trace of that odour for awhile, but rest assured your food is now safe. Below is an image of some of the contents we discovered during the cleaning process.
The microwave and toaster oven have also been given a good cleaning. Please cover your containers when using the microwave whenever possible from now on to keep it clean. Good job team!

Fridge cleaning on Friday
This Friday (Oct. 14) at 11:30, the IAM fridge will be cleaned out to prevent the growth of radioactive mutant sandwiches that could escape and dominate the world. You can do your part by removing any tupperware or food that you would like to keep. Any contents that are not removed by 11:30am on Friday morning will be thrown out. People who use the fridge frequently are encouraged to volunteer. Below is a schematic of our fridge:
Reminder: the IAM morning tea/coffee social is an excellent time for you to remove your things.
