Class Policy
Your course mark will be calculated as follows:
| Final Exam |
50% |
| Tests |
45% |
| Homework |
5% |
Tests
There will be three tests. Each test will take the entire class period
(two hours). The lowest test score will be counted towards 5% of
your final mark. The other test scores will each be counted towards
20% of your final mark.
Should you have to miss a test due to a legitimate (and documented!)
reason such as illness, family emergencies, etc., you will of
course not be penalized. However, if you miss a test
without a legitimate reason, you will receive a mark of zero, and
there will be no opportunity to write the test later.
Homework
Homework will be collected every Monday.
Each collected assignment will have a cover page. The cover page
will have the following: (1) your name and student number, (2)
a complete list of the problems that were assigned for the homework
assignment with problems that weren't completed in a circle,
(3) a list of extra problems that you've done but weren't assigned,
and (4) be neat. If these guidelines are not followed
at least one mark will be deducted. Late homework will only be accepted
up to one class meeting after the assignment; there will be a one mark
penalty as well.
There are five possible marks for a homework assignment:
| Have done all the problems and some extras
that weren't assigned. |
120% |
| Have done all or almost all of the problems assigned.
|
100% |
| Have done most of the problems assigned. |
80% |
| Have done some (at least half) of the problems
assigned. |
60% |
| Did not turn it in. |
