SCAIM – Scientific Computing and Applied & Industrial MathematicsSCAIM is an interdepartmental group at the University of British Columbia with common research interests in computational applied mathematics. It spans the departments of Computer Science, Earth and Ocean Sciences, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, and Physics & Astronomy. The formation of the SCAIM group is a new and exciting initiative dated September 2003. It promotes interdisciplinary research at UBC, and strives to strengthen the collaboration and connection among the various researchers at the university who classify their interests to be within the broad area of applications of computations. It has close ties with the Institute for Applied Mathematics. The SCAIM Seminar Series and the IAM Colloquium Series are just two ways in which the members of the group interact. More information about the research interests of the group is available via members’ websites in the people page. SCAIM Seminar Series 2011-2012We meet every Tuesday at 12:30 for a lunch seminar at WMAX 110 (WMAX is the PIMS facility, 1933 West Mall).
