Large Scale Finite Element Solution for the Time-Harmonic Maxwell Equations

We study the application of a new preconditoner for iteratively solving linear systems arising from finite element discretizations of the mixed formulation of the time-harmonic Maxwell equations. The vector field is approximated using Nedelec elements and the multiplier is approximated using nodal elements. The preconditioner is based on discrete regularization using the scalar Laplacian. We have implemented the finite element code in parallel for large scale systems using the PETSc package. We provide numerical results to show the performance of the preconditioner.
